BEIRUT - Day Three

Saturday Nov 13, 2010
Beirut - A Continuation of the Other Two

10am - stumble to a greasy, gross hotel breakfast - dude we met at EM Chill is the bartender at Monroe - "Long Night?" he asks - pass out til nearly 4pm - finally get up, get showered - 53opm dinner at Italian cafe on Gemmayzah - eggplant and tiramisu (recipe for explosive D) - walk to Metropolis - nice little arthouse cinema - feeling at home - 1.5 hours early - people/car watch in front of Bvlgari - head into cinema - see Hania, Chadi, Robb, Hannah and Wajdi
Watched The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with live score by MUNMA (Jawad Nawfal and Wajdi Elian) - visceral, noisy, and amazing experience - dinner and drinks afterward with DFI crew at Pacifico on Monaut Street - wild turkey on the rocks and a salad inside a pineapple - talk to Lauren - go to Hamrah with Chadi - meet Wajdi and friends at Dany's bar - walk home - cold night air - back streets - bullet holes - broken glass fence tops - army tanks hidden under Holiday Inn - belly dancing club in hopping in Monroe - stop in - 2 belly dance songs, bad sheesha, 2 drinks, and Gulfie Girls Gone Wild - massive "Entertainment Fee" on bill - bullshit! - back to room for espresso and sleep.

Normal day? Sorta.
