NY Tour Guide - Chronicle 7

Ahmed Ahmed's film was pretty good. I skipped out on the after party (to watch a Phillies game). I am kinda pissed at myself for not going to see Ahmed, Vince Vaughn, Omar Dhalili, and more do standup but I did get to see an excellent Phillies win.... so.... i think it evens out.
Met up with Christian and Mo and headed up to Desmond's Tavern to see Buy Star Bombs play.
Other than the fact that it was a shitty east midtown bar that had terrible sound, a shitty crowd, and even worse bartenders/owners.... it was a fun night. A night that raged on until around 4am.
This morning was interesting as well. Brit and I met friends for brunch before I had to head off to the North American premiere of Budrus.
Now, cut me some slack, I have been working myself to the bone and getting little sleep.....
I fell asleep 3 minutes in and woke up for the panel afterward.
When I woke up, people were going crazy. Applauding, whistling, some even crying.
From what I gathered, it was a pretty amazing film.
I will make it a point to see it somehow. Soon. I promise.
When that was over, we were whisked off to the premiere of Ruba Nadda's film Cairo Time.
I went back to the hotel to get cleaned up and went to the after party at Bar Artisnal, where I ran into on of my old teachers. Had a nice little chat before leaving to try to catch a screening of Possessed.
When Wafaa, Abdulla, and I arrived, we thought we were 10 minutes late but it turns out, we were almost 2 hours early.
So we decided to go across the street and have sushi while we waited. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez walked in and sat right behind us.
We scarfed down our food and still had an hour to wait for the screening....
so we did what anyone would do....
we bailed.
I am "at home" now writing this blog and contemplating going to sleep before midnight. (Novel idea)
Got a busy day tomorrow with a panel in the morning and then 3 film screenings throughout the day, ending with a 10pm screening of Feathered Cocaine. I am really excited about this one. Its a doc about the illegal falcon trade/smuggling that is more profitable than heroin!!! It exposed links to the CIA and Bin Laden!!!! How excellent does that sound?!?!
