Having my mom out here has been incredible so far and we are doing everything we can to make the trip as awesome as can be.
Yesterday we got up and headed over to the Museum of Islamic Art and Mathaf.
M.I.A. is such an incredible building. The architecture of that place never gets old.
The only thing about the place that is slightly misleading is that it is not technically an "art" museum in the sense that one would expect.
It is more of an artifact museum filled with textiles, small scale sculptures, and relics from the Arab world.
Some of it is really cool but after awhile, you kinda "get the point".
When we left there, we headed over to the newly opened Mathaf.
It's temporary space is right next to the M.I.A. while the real space is built in education city.
By the looks of the collection, the permanent space is going to be incredible.
Its packed with modern and contemporary art with tons of video installations, paintings, and large scale sculptural art.
It is a must see if you are in Doha.
After spending almost 3 hours in the two museums, we met Lauren at The Pearl for a late lunch at Carluccio's as the sun went down.
Once it went dark, we headed over to the corniche to meet Jill, Steve, Dale, and Hannah for a dhow cruise around the bay.
It was beautiful to see the lights of the skyline and the buildings from the water as the dhow blasted Beyonce haha
(photos to come)
Upon return to land, we hit up Bukhara (my favorite Indian restaurant in Doha) for a massive family style meal.
Full and sleepy, we headed home to rest before a desert trip in the morning.
Another great day in the books.
