Beirut - Road Trip/Secret Spots
Wake up at noon - need a new liver - 1pm Wajdi picks us up - stop and get nice greasy shwarma - drive one hour north up the coast to Barbara for "secret swimming spot"
Fresh water springs in the sea - cold, then warm, then cold, then warmDuck dive to look at fish - loads of little ones feeding on the algae of the rocks - giant garfish - get out - mosquitoes attack - pack up and drive to Byblos
One of the oldest cities in the world - beautiful ancient buildings - crap souk - sit for a fresh fruit juice - back in the car - driving south - SHIT TON of traffic - 2+ hours in traffic getting back to Beirut - drove past strip club called "Amsterdam" that is ATTACHED to Hardee's.... nothing like a burger and boobies I guess - also saw a Chinese restaurant called "Yummy Do-Do".Back at hotel - sleep til 9pm - no desire to drink - JP made me wear a white collared shirt, guess I'll fit in better considering thats what 99% of Lebo dudes where to these clubs - meet Fad and friend - eat at Italian place in ABC Mall - then to Element bar - nice club, good music - 3 drinks later, its on again, ugh - just want to go home - then off to Saaha (Arabic club) - took awhile to get in - DJ with live backing band - great guitar player - few drinks.
Off to Fad's friends - late night delivery - arguments broke out - experiencing some slight racism toward Americans - ready to fight - chalk it up to alcohol - 5am drive through Hezbollah areas - back to hotel around sunrise - hit the bed hard - feel like death - check out is in the morning.Last night out. My body is suffering.
