The first screening day for all the films erupted into a mob scene at the City Centre when the box office opened. Hundreds of people wanted to see the films and nearly everyone played to packed house.
Lauren did a sweet little intro to her favorite film "Home" and got to introduce the director, Yann Arthus-Bertrand. I was able to sneak in and hang with the McCarthy clan and watch her short but shining moment.
After the brief moment of relaxation, I helped with the crowd control for awhile. And by crowd control, I mean damage control. Running people into the theatre as the movies started, handing out tickets to screenings to people who didnt care what they saw.. just wanted to see something ("Racing Dreams" it is), and battling with head counts that came back different from each and every person counting.
Once the first wave of screenings were loaded, I bounced like a moon man.
Came back to credentials center, did the usual printing of badges and answering questions, caught a few minutes of the outdoor screening on the beach, and rolled back to the hotel with Mike and Janey to look at some Planet Doha footage, talk about "life" and watch them fall in love all over again. Soooo sweet.
A quick dinner, some chatting, and off we went to the After Party at the Spice Market.
Free booze, an emcee, lots of people, and a crazy amount of Jay-Z = a very nice night.
