Patience is the key. But not the ONLY key.
Knowing the right people (like anywhere else in the world) is ultimate.
We had an all staff meeting this morning at 9am in the hotel that dispelled most of my skepticism and fears about our stay here. My eyes were opened to a lot of the who, what, why, when. And turns out.... everything is amazing. The festival scope/mission is shaping up to be one of (if not THE) most exciting one ever.
Now to the "right people" part....
After the meeting, Lauren (a Doha native and by FAR the coolest person we have met here) gave us a ride to work in her Jeep in which she promptly turned on Aesop Rock. YEAH... AESOP ROCK! (who knew that a BK native, and one of my favorite hip hop artists of all time, got play out here in the desert?!?!) She told us about places to go, things to do and may even take us out and show us what REAL fun is here.
The excitement I feel about this place now is a relief and it feels great.
This could just become the amazing trip that I had envisioned after all.
Seriously.... Lauren- you rock.
Thank you.
Cheers Doha.
You are finally seeing my smile.
