Artist: Turbowolf
Album: Turbowolf
Review: Brilliant blend of synth-pop, grunge, thrash, kick your teeth in punk and a dash of cock rock plus a sensitivity for good moustaches. Turbowolf has just secured themselves a place in my currently obsessed category.
And I won't even hold it against them that they are from the UK.
Artist: The Shins
Album: Port of Morrow
Review: It's a Shins record. Solid, great song writing, but very likely to get 2 plays and then be lost, only to come up in a random shuffle.
Artist: Queen of the Wave
Album: Pepe Deluxe
Review: I'm all for experimenting with concept albums and writing operas and shit but a record that seems like a road trip record to a Renaissance Fair or a Jethro Tull cover band just doesn't cut it for me. Flutes are a tough sell.... unless you are a Native American. Then it's only kinda cool (in a "oh man... us white people are fucked up" kinda way).
