Fast Forward to Cairo- Day 8

I missed a post for Day 7, which was fairly uneventful on a professional level (other than cutting together a really nice 20 minute reel of our best footage from the week) but great on a kick-relax-laugh-have fun level.... So we will fast forward to Day 8- The Final Day.

We got up early and expected to shoot at the Spirit of Youth School for boys. We had a car lined up to stay with us all day because we were checking out of the hotel at 10 and had no where to go with our luggage until our flight (which we had to be at the airport at 3).
So on our way to the school, we got word from Ezzat that the school was closed and there would be no one there. So we headed up to the mountain to meet Hanna.
He was in the cafeteria at the church with a friend, his wife, and beautiful little baby boy. We had some tea and long talks. It was quite nice. Especially when the baby pooped while Lauren was holding him. Classic moment.

We left them and said goodbye to the Zabaleen (until Feb).
Then we headed to Khan El Khalily for some last minute shopping. We scoured through treasures at another antique shop and left with some great finds. I got a mint Miles Davis "Milestones" record along with an Italian Elvis "Jailhouse Rock" 45 sleeve, which I cleverly hid an Italian pressing of Beatles Magical Mystery tour 45 in.
Carrie picked up some nice old Egyptian stamps for a friend and Lauren added to her ever growing old tin box collection.
Our driver got quite pissed at me because we weren't back to the pickup spot on time and he had to keep circling the streets waiting for us.
He calmed down a bit and took us off to the airport.
We were there quite early so we had some food and "fanny-ed around".

Next thing I knew, we were in the air, I saw 10 minutes of "500 Nights of Summer" and woke up in Doha.
Dale met us at the airport and brought us back to the McCarthy house where we showed off our photos and videos and stories for awhile.
(Jill, I hope you are feeling better)
Then, back to Dale's for some much needed sleep.

Mike asked me to sum up the trip in 3 words and I think I nailed it.
"Surreal Fucking Adventure"
Other than that, I am still at a bit of a lose for words (yeah, I know, Justin at a lose for words... rare hahaha)

Carrie will be back on a flight to NY in just about 2 hours.
I will be exactly one day behind her after saying my goodbyes and spending one last day in the city I have come to love: Doha.
