Manuel's Birthday Surprise = Massive Failure

When mention of a cake being purchased to "help each other through the stress and share love across the office", I had to step in.
I thought, "Hey. Wouldn't it be funny if we had a REASON for the cake? Like a birthday. Or even better a NON-Birthday!!!"
So the plan was put in place.
We would hide in the kitchen with a beautiful chocolate cake (purchased by the lovely Aya) that read Happy Birthday Manuel, light the candles,

and walk out into the office getting everyone to join in singing and then watch Manuel crack up when he realized it was for him on a day that was definitely not his birthday.

WELL.... let's just say the first part of the plan worked.
The reaction wasn't quite the one that I had envisioned when I came up with the idea.
By not quite, I mean, he sorta flipped shit. A few F-Bombs were dropped and people started to retreat not really knowing how to react.

Minutes later....
I felt really bad.
I sent an email to the whole staff apologizing and taking blame for the bad joke and explained to them the amount of pressure Manuel is under with his trying to launch a successful box office in 2 days with so many wrenches being thrown at him everyday.

Luckily, he forgave me after a little while.

The upsides to the whole thing were:
1- The cake was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all
2- Manuel knows we all love him
3- In hind sight.... it's FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!
