Who walks in Doha and who is Scandar Copti?

Today was a day of new-ness.
Manuel and I decided to do the unthinkable/unheard of.... walk in Doha.
The food delivery system at the museum was getting a little old. Waiting for everyone to order, paying a fortune and then waiting forever for food to come.
Manuel suggested we venture out and walk to find some local spots.
At first, the idea didn't seem that great to me considering it was noon (the hottest part of the day) and the temperature was reaching 105 degrees. But what can I say.... the man has a way of convincing.
So we got to steppin.
After about ten minutes we came across a "Juice Bar". We dipped inside and sat at the one table in the closet sized restaurant. Chicken burger for 3 riyals ($1 USD).... delicious. We were joined at the table by a little old-ish man named Liberty (yeah.. i know... sounds fake... but thats what he said it was so I had no other choice but to believe him) from India who immediately wanted to talk to me. He asked me about my tattoos and my family. He was also very interested in whether or not I was a devoted Christian. He told me that I MUST read the bible. He preached on and on about how the bible is the most important thing in the world.
We said our goodbyes and headed for an alley way that Manuel spotted across the street. At the end was a group of stores and a small souk.
We walked through and found a great little falafel place just on the other side.
Again... super cheap. 3 riyals for a sandwich. And the locals were all super happy to feed us.
We returned to the museum to find out we were being moved to the new office space at the Commercial Bank Towers.

This is the view from my desk.

After work we came back to the hotel and Manuel hit his favorite spot in Doha... the couch where he proceeded to pass out. Instead of doing what I normally do, wasting the rest of the night on the internet, I went down and sat by the pool for a little while.

At 830 there was a private screening for us of our co-workers film.
AJAMI by Scandar Copti.
The film was AMAZING. A roller coaster ride of violent puzzle pieces that all fell into place creating a truly affecting piece of cinema. I HIGHLY recommend seeing this film when it makes it to the states or anywhere else you may be able to see it.
Trust me on this one. It WILL move you.
