CONGRATULATIONS LAUREN!!!!

Last night Lauren and I took a break from shooting a film with our friend Mike, to head over to Education City for the 2010 Human Rights Youth Conference.
We were really there for one reason....
the announcement of the winner for the photography contest they were running.
After 2 hours of listening to misinformed and highly uneducated rhetoric from guest speakers (one guy dropped such gems in his key note speech as: "Who are we going to listen to Obama, our Emir, or Lady Gaga?" and "I want to know who is going to be the next American Idol and who killed the children" and one of my favorites, "We have Americans from America with Luther King" hahahah WTF?!?!) and students....
Lauren was awarded with the award for 2010 Human Rights Photographer of the Year!!!!
Her amazing work depicting migrant workers in Qatar was judged by a National Geographic photographer and oddly compared to "Jews lining up for a concentration camp" (another giant WTF?!?!).
But no matter what kind of "lost in translation" nonsense was spewed, her photos are incredible and deserve all the accolades in the world.
Congratulations Lauren!!!!

  1. Congrats, Lauren! That bottom photo is priceless. Isn't the dude with the mic the guy who worked with Reema and Aya?
